Note: As of 2020, physical Resource CDs have been discontinued and the files are now distributed as digital downloads, accessed through your My Library user account. The digital resources contain materials to support Accelerated Studies in Physics and Chemistry(ASPC) 2nd ed. All files are in Microsoft Word .doc format except for answer keys, which are in PDF format. To access your documents, please create an account on the Classical Academic Press website at this link. You will be able to download your documents by navigating to the My Library page under your Account page.The Digital Resources are essential for implementing the mastery-learning paradigm central to the Centripetal Press educational strategy. The central component to our mastery-learning paradigm is weekly, cumulative assessments. The quizzes are cumulative all year long so that students are required to maintain a study strategy that keeps key concepts from previous chapters fresh while learning material from each new chapter.The Digital Resources also contains the Weekly Review Guide, another essential component for student success. Distribute weekly to guide students' review of key material from the past which will appear on forthcoming assessments.
Other useful documents include instructions and rubrics for teaching the course, sample schedule, and lesson list.
Digital Resources consist of documents only. Student resources are re-printable. The contents include:
- Course Overview – Describes the details of teaching the course including suggestions for pacing, organization, assessments, grading and more.
- Quiz Bank – 29 quizzes in .doc format intended for weekly administration. All are mastery-oriented, rehearsing some material and skills from previous chapters in an organized fashion, according to the Weekly Review Guides. Quizzes consist of one page containing 6-7 questions and can be administered in 15-20 minutes. All quizzes are cumulative, all year long.
- All Keys and Sample Answers to Verbal Questions – A single document as a grading resource for quizzes, chapter exercises, and semester exams.
- Semester Exams – Fall and Spring semester exams in .doc format.
- Weekly Review Guides – 23 MS Word .doc files to print and distribute to students. This is a critical tool for enabling student success in a mastery education context. Each guide includes student review tasks and four review computations with answer key.
- Lesson schedule and sample lesson calendar – A list of daily lessons (pages to read, exercises, quiz dates, experiment dates) for fall and spring semester, and a sample calendar based on a 4-day school week.

John D. Mays, Author
After receiving his BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, John D. Mays worked for 14 years as an electrical engineering and engineering manager in the areas of electrical, control, and telecommunications systems. Drawn toward the field of education, John acquired an MEd in Secondary Education from the University of Houston in 1989, and subsequently completed 36 hours of graduate study in Physics at Texas A&M. Shortly after joining the faculty at Regents School of Austin in 1999, John began work on an MLA at St. Edward's University, which he completed in 2003. John served as Math-Science Department Chair at Regents School for nine years and as Director of the Laser Optics Lab for 10 years. He founded Novare Science & Math in 2009 and is the author of numerous science texts and teacher resources. He now works full time as Director of Science Curriculum for Classical Academic Press.
