Introductory Physics: Complete Video Course Taught by John D. Mays is a complete set of video lessons for the Novare Science text, Introductory Physics, by John D. Mays. In this video series, the author of the text teaches through the year-long course, lesson by lesson. Videos include demonstrations, problem-solving examples, drills, animations, graphics, and images. Additionally, each of the five laboratory experiments in Introductory Physics is conducted. The Complete Video Course is perfect for homeschool students, who otherwise may not have access to expert instruction. The Complete Video Course is also useful for new teachers, substitute teachers, and schools who find themselves temporarily without a physics teacher.
Introductory Physics is ideal for the "physics first" high school science program, in which all students take physics during the freshman year. This text also includes two optional chapters with more challenging math content (Pressure and Buoyancy, and Geometric Optics), making the course suitable for use in 10th or 11th grade as well. Introductory Physics is designed for students who are enrolled concurrently in Algebra I, the standard grade-level math course for 9th grade. Chapter exercises are rigorous and challenging, requiring both written and computational answers, but nothing more advanced than basic algebra is required for the computations in this text. This text is not an upper-level vector/trig-based course; for a vector-based text, see our book Physics: Modeling Nature.
Student instructions for five complete laboratory experiments are included in the appendix. Additional instructions for teachers are included in the supplemental book, Experiments for Introductory Physics and ASPC.

John D. Mays, Author
After receiving his BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, John D. Mays worked for 14 years as an electrical engineering and engineering manager in the areas of electrical, control, and telecommunications systems. Drawn toward the field of education, John acquired an MEd in Secondary Education from the University of Houston in 1989, and subsequently completed 36 hours of graduate study in Physics at Texas A&M. Shortly after joining the faculty at Regents School of Austin in 1999, John began work on an MLA at St. Edward's University, which he completed in 2003. John served as Math-Science Department Chair at Regents School for nine years and as Director of the Laser Optics Lab for 10 years. He founded Novare Science & Math in 2009 and is the author of numerous science texts and teacher resources. He now works full time as Director of Science Curriculum for Classical Academic Press.
